In order to meet the needs of our clients in the course of tax return preparation, accounting services, financial planning, and tax compliance engagements, we collect various types of personal information from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from our clients in person by telephone, mail, fax, or email; through our website; on tax preparation worksheets; and on other documents or forms that we use in preparing tax returns or providing other services. Such information includes: name, address, social security number, income, investments and other assets, and other tax and financial information.
  • Information we receive about our clients from other sources about transactions or types of relationships with these entities, such as, investment, loan, or banking activity; balances or account numbers; legal agreements and documents; and other types of information collected in the course of providing engaged services.
  • Information we receive from our clients when their. browser interacts with our website. This information includes information transmitted on the Internet as cookies, such as, the password to our website, client preferences on our website, and the client's Internet provider's address.
  • Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies, such as, the client's credit history and outstanding loan balances.

IS PERSONAL INFORMATION SHARED WITH OTHERS?

We do not share any personal information about our clients with anyone without their expressed consent, except as required or permitted by law. These are the following legal exceptions:

  • The law requires disclosure in certain instances, such as, fraud prevention in response to a court subpoena, or as part of an actual or threatened legal proceeding or alternate dispute resolution.
  • We may share any information we collect to nonaffiliated companies that perform support services on our behalf, such as, tax or data processing, transmission of electronic returns or data, records retention, and mailing services.
  • We do not share information from consumer reporting agencies. We do not sell or otherwise disclose our client list or any other client information to outside companies for their marketing or solicitation use.
  • We may also share your information with other parties who help assure our compliance with professional accounting standards, such as, peer reviews; or who conduct due diligence procedures, such as, a sale or merger of our practice.

HOW DO WE PROTECT THE CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION?

  • Keeping all client information confidential and secure is of utmost importance to each employee at Bruns Gelles & Company, PC. We follow standard industry practices to actively protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of all client information. We also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect all personal client information. Our employees are bound by internal confidentiality policies and are subject to disciplinary action for any policy violations. We take appropriate precautions, such as, confidentiality agreements, before sharing client information with any outside party.
  • We provide the same procedural safeguards on personal information for all inactive accounts or terminated accounts in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
